EQUISTRO ELECTROLYTE 7  3000 gram

'Electrolytes Electrolytes are substances that, in aqueous solutions, break down to particles with electrical charges, the ions. Mineral salts are present in the aqueous solutions of intracellular and extracellular body fluids in this electrically conductive form as positively charged cations or negatively charged anions. The most important cations are: Na, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Co, Zn, Mn. The most important anions are: chloride, hydrogen carbonate, phosphate, sulphate, iodide and protein. Electrolytes facilitate vital functions such as * Maintenance of osmotic pressure * Maintenance of electrical conductivity * Maintenance of acid-base balance * Neural stimulus conduction up to synapses * Muscle contractions The regulatory system that balances water and electrolytes depends on sufficient daily supplies of water and electrolytes (in hay and raw fodder), sufficient pre-absorption storage capacities (e.g. in large intestine content), excretion volumes that do not exceed resupply in nutritional intake in feed and - in case of extreme losses - supplementation in a suitable form for purposes of regeneration. Besides water and electrolyte losses due to illnesses such as febrile infections and enteritis, sweat losses also play an important role in a horse's body fluid balance. Sweating means a loss of water (and the substances dissolved in it); the amount may come to 5% of the body weight of a horse and up to one-third of the extracellular fluid. Sweat production in horses Sweat production in horses (500 kg body weight) * from slight exertion 3.75 l * from moderate exertion 7.50 l * from heavy exertion 17.50 l * from extreme exertion 25.00 l Losses of electrolytes per litre of sweat: 5.5 g Cl; 3.1 g Na; 1.6 g K; 0.1 g Ca and 0.1 g Mg as well as losses of the trace elements Zn, Fe, Cu, Co, Mn and I in the mg range. Varying absorption and secretion processes during the passage result in flow volumes of water and electrolytes in the digestive tract that exceed oral intake, facilitating certain regulatory mechanisms that serve the purpose of adaptation to the supply situation, i.e. to sufficient resupply or its absence. Water and electrolyte losses that are too great or last too long lead, however, to failure of these mechanisms. The phase during which the fluid and electrolyte balance is restored then lasts too long, resulting in the typical symptoms of insufficient supply, disturbances in vesicular breathing and elimination of metabolites. Heartbeat, respiratory frequency, body temperature, skin turgor, blood composition, droppings, feeding drive, body weight and sweat formation are altered. Reduced stamina becomes evident in the form of premature tiring, lack of spurt reserves, lengthening of recovery phase, nervousness, shyness or recalcitrance, coordination problems, tripping, muscular disturbances, cramps, typing-up syndrome. In acute and threatening states, cooling of the animal, water supply and administration of sufficient amounts of table salt are urgently required. Electrolyte loss volumes can be restored either wholly or in part (see above), depending on the amount of sweat loss. EQUISTRO ELECTROLYT 7 was developed specifically for use in horses, for regular substitution of electrolyte losses due to sweating under the influence of heat, transport and sporting exertion or following bouts of diarrhoea and fever. The high level of acceptance of the product ensures good uptake from feed and/or drinking water. All of the mineral salts are in a readily absorbable form, ensuring rapid availability. The vitamin additives help the horse adapt to the increased stress load, whereby vitamin C plays a central role in stress management, niacin (vitamin B3) is an important coenzyme prestage and pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is a core element of an enzyme with a key function in energy metabolism. EQUISTRO ELECTROLYT 7 thus not only reduces losses of solute nutrients, but also influences the overall metabolism of an exhausted horse for rapid restoration and stabilization of performance capacity.
