For the treatment of respiratory tract infections in horses associated with Streptococcus zooepidemicus.
Excenel contains the sodium salt of ceftiofur, a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including β-lactamase-producing strains. Like other cephalosporins, ceftiofur acts as a bactericide in vitro due to inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
Indications d'utilisation
In horses: 2.2 mg ceftiofur per kg body weight per day (i.e. 10 ml per 225 kg body weight) for 10 days, to be administered intramuscularly.
Method of administration:
Dissolve the powder in the vial with 80 ml of water for injection.
The administered volume should not exceed 10 ml per injection site.
